WHAT’S
GOING ON:
- Dinner
meetings on the 2nd and 4th Thursday every month.
- We hold
1 board meeting per month on the 3rd Tuesday.
- We have at least one social event per calendar month which
can consist of – Restaurant outings / Night
Golf which is held at Hurstville Golf Course / Home Hospitality
which is we have a dinner at one of the members homes and
each member and partner BYO a plate and
drink / Australia Day Picnic outing / Annual Christmas
Party.
Lugarno Lions are also involved in the Diabetic Kids Camp
(2 per yr), State Emergency committee rebuilding lions clubs
in the district, Multiple District Convention (which was held
in Perth 2001).
Our largest fundraising event is the Spring Festival held
in August/September, we raise approx $13,000. Lions organise
the Ring Events, which consist of Dog Obedience displays /
Fire Brigade Demo / Harley Motorcycle rides/ Classic Vehicle
Display/ sale of the famous sausage sizzle.
At the Christmas Carols at Evatt Park, we raised funds by
having a sausage sizzle and supply of candles and other novelty
items on sale.
Fundraising is our specialty – we organise various events
to raise funds to give back to our community, some of the
events of the past 12 months have included Jazz in Evatt Part
(which is FREE admission), RCS Choc Wheel Operation for the
Riverwood Community Centre, Night Golf, Christmas Stocking
Draw – which is held at the Riverwood Shopping Plaza. Our
proceeds go to making up usually 100 Christmas Hampers and
distributed to people nominated by various community centres.
Our End of Financial Year Dinner Meeting we hold an Appreciation
Night to say our special thanks to all others helping our
club raise funds throughout the year. We offer our special
guests dinner and a Certificate of Appreciation.
